Laptop Buying Guide

Size and weight of Laptop:

This laptop feature is essential to check because a laptop is meant to be portable, easy to carry and use. The laptop’s size varies from 11.6 inches to 17.3 inches, and selection should be made on your requirement, and this factor indeed doesn’t affect the performance.
Another factor, Weight, is a thing to consider as fewer weight laptops are more comfortable to carry and well portable. These days, companies are striving to be their products to be much lighter, and they are also projecting this feature as their main feature.
So the laptops should be less than 2Kgs.

Mother Boards:

This is the most crucial feature of a laptop as it determines the gadget’s performance and speed. Most of them prefer to use Intel Core-based CPU’S. However, you have AMD Ryzen CPU, which is also a good choice because they are gaining significant importance among customers.
These processors will provide you a clock speed that determines the speed and performance of your laptop. Clock speed is directly proportional to performance. So have a look at clock speeds while buying a laptop as this varies differently with different laptops.

Random Access Memory(RAM):

Gone those days when people used to have a maximum of 4GB of RAM, even today’s generation phones have a minimum of 6GB, so for laptops, there should be a minimum of 8GB of RAM. Higher the RAM, the higher the performance.
RAM allows us to use several applications at a time. So if it is configured higher, then there would be no lag to performance. Also, please check that your laptop should have an upgradable option so that it would be helpful for you to upgrade in the future.

Screen Quality:

We would engage ourselves on laptops for hours to get the works done depending on your usage. In that case, our screens should be comfortable for us in all ways.

Touch Laptop screens are more glossy and would certainly have an impact on your eyes. Ideal Screen quality can be 1920 X 1080p resolution.

Storage Options:

Hard disks were used to be the only option for Storage. Also, those were very costly. But now those HDD’s are replaced by SSD’s. SSD’s are way faster than traditional hard disks.

But the cost of SSD’s are much higher than HDD’s. You can get a 1TB HDD with the cost of a 128GB SSD. You can see the difference. In contrast, HDD’s are slow, bulky and produce more heat.

SSD’s are durable as they don’t have any parts moving inside them.

Battery Life:

Another important aspect of the laptop is its battery life. How long does it stay with you after the charge is a notable feature. Many factors make this a deciding feature, such as while traveling, we take our laptop with us, and we need to work on it and what if it suddenly blackouts. So we need to check this feature.
Many factors affect the battery’s performance, such as Brightness, Number of backend applications that are running, Screen resolution, all connected connections such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and so on. Also, it would be best if you don’t consider manufacturers stating numbers on the box. Those are just checked under optimal conditions and minimal usage.
We should check the battery rating in Watt-Hours(WH) or milli-Amps(mAH), how high the number is better the battery life.

Connectivity:

This generation is all about sharing and transferring. So the transfer speed should be high enough. This is obtained by USB 3.0 Ports so laptops should have a minimum of 2 USB 3.0 Ports and more are always welcome. Coming to connectivity options, these days all laptops have every connectivity like HDMI port, LAN Cable Port.

Now you can also find USB 3.1 which is twice faster than 3.0 which in turn are 10 times faster than USB 2.0.

USB-C and Thunderbolt 3 offers a fast transfer speed of 40 gigabits per second
